What Is Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga is "Ashta + anga" in Sanskrit. Ashtanga yoga is based on Patanjali's Yoga Philosophy, which is defined as "eight limb path" since "ashta" means eight and "anga" means limbs. The Patanjali Yoga Sutras serve as the foundation for the asanas, pranayamas, dharana (which we have already studied), yam, and niyam.
