Professional development, industry connections, and accurate media representation are important parts of the mission of Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA). Since its founding in 1981, the organization has worked to support Asian American and Pacific Islander journalists and students pursuing careers in journalism. Members can benefit from scholarships, professional stipends, workshops, networking opportunities, mixers, training, and other career resources. The Texas chapter connects journalists and students throughout the state, providing a community where media professionals can develop skills, exchange knowledge, and establish valuable relationships. The organization also promotes fairness and accuracy in news coverage while advocating for stronger AAPI representation across the media industry.
