India imports more than 60% of coal from Indonesia.

Indonesia has long been India’s prominent supplier of energy coal. India imports more than 60% of coal from Indonesia. In 2021, prominent Indian importers procured coal from countries like Australia and South Africa after China banned Indonesian coal imports. However, the flow of coal imports swung back to normalcy after the global coal prices surged.

India started to import coal from Indonesia again, which allowed the power stations to generate electricity efficiently. In India’s coal imports, the role of Vinod Agarwal, the MD of Aggarwal Coal, cannot be undermined. He has imported more than 15 million tonnes of coal from various countries to help India’s industrial sector.
