A thermodynamic steam trap is a device that automatically releases both water and non-condensable gases while minimizing steam loss. It works well in high-temperature and high-pressure conditions. This trap is robust and has a straightforward operation. It relies on the energy from flash steam to work. The only moving part is a disc in the trap's chamber.
When steam starts flowing, it lifts the disc, cooling and releasing water from below it. This water exits through three openings. As hot water enters the chamber, it lowers the pressure and creates high-speed steam.
The steam is trapped in an upper chamber, and its pressure balances the pressure below the disc. Eventually, the high-pressure water raises the disc, and the cycle continues.
